Welcome to the East Rand Astronomy Club's
website.
The East Rand Astronomy Club were founded
in 2003 by Wolf Lange (now living in Kommetjie) and Constant Volschenk
(Johannesburg Planetarium). Although there are clubs in Johannesburg and
Pretoria, it was found that people did not want to drive the distances at
night for meetings, hence the East Rand Club were started.
The monthly meetings are held in a very
informal setting, and members are encouraged to report back any observations
made during the month.
Although most of the club's members own
a telescope, it is not a prerequisite for membership.
